My story is the story of resilience despite all odds. After graduating university with a lower grade than my abilities, it felt like the end of the world for me. How do I press on from here? Even 1st class people sometimes don’t get jobs. Days passed and then several months, my fears were confirmed by my inability to get a job. I drowned daily in self guilt, thoughts of incompetence and fears for my future. I lost all sense of confidence to the point that I couldn’t mention a single strength that I possessed, but I had a long list of weaknesses. I have heard so many words about success over my lifetime, but nothing worked in my life until I spoke to myself. I had a conversation with myself about my identity. I looked inwards and saw that I have strengths, it might have not been displayed during my first degree, but it can be displayed moving forward and eventually give me the future I dream of. I realized through this journey that no one is obligated to support me, except myself. This discovery has resulted in jobs, growth in self-love, confidence and a bigger dream for my future. I am consciously building my strengths and taking one step at a time for the future I desire. I am glad I moved on, because the first place to ignite change is from within you. My identity is resilience.
