My struggle
My struggle is what made me today. When I smile I’m hiding my pain, many wouldn’t believe the things I’ve been through. But being from a neighborhood that people degrade, fear and belittle made me want to be a better person to not only the people I grew up with wrong, but the people who speak ill about the community. All my life I had to fight, fight for my rights, now I’m fighting for my freedom. Growing up I was told I’d never be anything I’d just grow up to have kids and live off the government, but growing up around violence and police brutality made me realize that if I don’t change or move out of this environment I’d just continue to be labeled and stuck in this cycle/system. I know that one day that I will get the freedom I am fighting for and that one-day is not too far.
