Understanding and Awareness

Change is something I’ve had to become accustomed to. I’ve made a lot of changes in my life. There is not a second that goes by where I was not the same person that second ago. I would say I’m always changing. I’ve changed in good ways, I’ve changed in bad ways, and I’ve changed when I really didn’t want to. I’ve gone through massive changes at all stages in my life.

The change can be fast, or it can happen slowly. My life changed really fast when I turned 25, it was an unwanted change where I wish I could have stayed the same and not experienced that change at all whatsoever, but it had. As I was dealing with those changes and struggles, I was at the age where OHIP stopped providing its coverage services for medication. While I was going through these major changes I was not covered for the things at that time that I really needed to function. And that was scary and a unsettling feeling. And I can only imagine how scary and unsettling that is for other people as well with bigger problems and changes that I had to go through.

The change I’d like to see in the world is health care plans that last till any age. It shouldn’t come to a halt at the age of 25 when we can still come into more health care problems later in life. While I was going through those major changes I was not covered for the things I really needed to function and the fact I only got those benefits when I was young and healthy and didn’t need it as much. The idea of OHIP is to help provide basic healthcare for those who need it, and people can need it at any time in life. 25 is just an age and people can go through a big health change at any time in their life.
