As someone who has struggled to come to terms with their own mental health since middle school, I feel as if it's a conversation that we need to be having more and more now. I always used to see it as a black-and-white thing.
Last year was one of the most trying times of my life both personally and professionally. To add to the cherry on top, I was struggling with a loss of my identity and being thrown into this new world of work and severe depression.
I was in denial for months and didn’t openly reveal it to anyone over the past year or so because of the stigma associated with struggling with depression. But I'm here to tell you that yes, I have it and I live it and I am doing just fine.
I'm not ashamed of it anymore nor am I going to let it win my life and therefore I'm more than willing to have this conversation about it so that many others can come to terms with their own mental health issues. I can finally live in colour once more.
