Cheasnessa / Product of Domestic Violence
Growing up I lived in a single parent home with my mother. We didn’t always have everything we wanted, but she made sure we had everything we needed and that I was unaware of the challenges she faced raising me on her own. As a child, I seen my mom abused by the hands of the man she created me with. Maturing into a young woman with memories of my mother’s abuse, I wanted to help as many women and children as possible with similar stories. Having this vision lead me to George Brown College where took a course named Assaulted Woman and Children’s Counsellor/ Advocate (AWCCA). Being in that program made me aware that I too was in an unhealthy relationship. I then knew I needed to break the cycle and remove myself and son from an unhealthy environment to healthy environment.
